His stellar record includes 36 centuries, 65 half-centuries, and 6 double centuries, with a top score of 262. He has remained not out 23 times, and his tally includes 1,397 fours and 45 sixes.

Tendulkar’s Test Legacy

Widely regarded as the greatest batter of all time, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Test matches, scoring a record 15,921 runs in 329 innings at an average of 53.28.

His career saw 51 centuries and 68 fifties, with a highest score of 248 not out*. He still holds the record for the most runs and centuries in Test cricket.

How Close is Root?

Root currently stands fifth on the all-time Test run-scorers list. The players ahead of him include Rahul Dravid (13,288), Jacques Kallis (13,289), Ricky Ponting (13,378), and Sachin Tendulkar (15,921). Root needs 2,916 more runs to surpass Sachin and become the highest run-scorer in Test history.
