IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 4 Highlights: Virat Kohli's 186 Gets India Past Australia's Total But Match Heading Towards Draw

IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 4 Highlights: Making the most of great batting conditions on offer, Kohli got to his century off the 241st delivery that he faced before eventually getting for 186.

Ahmedabad: While there were a few concerns over Virat Kohli's form in Test matches heading into the Ahmedabad Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the right-handed batter rose to the occasion in the fourth and the final Test match of the series, ending his 3 year 3 months long hundred drought in this format. Making the most of great batting conditions at this venue, Kohli got to his century off the 241st delivery that he faced before eventually getting for 186 in an attempt to up the ante as India aim to try and push for a win.

With the help of Kohli's effort after Shubman Gill's ton earlier in the match, India managed to post 571 which managed to help India take a lead of 91 runs. Axar Patel also continued his brilliant form in the series with the bat and scored a quickfire 79 off 113 deliveries. India batter Shreyas Iyer couldn't come out to bat with some back issues and could reportedly even miss the ODI series.

Before the end of the day's play, India also bowled 6 overs conceding 3 runs but not managing to take a single wicket. In a bizarre move, Australia decided to open their second innings with number 11 batter Matthew Kuhnemann along with designated opener Travis Head but the two at least ensured that no wickets at Stumps on Day 4.

India too opened their bowling innings with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja with the off-spinner bowling 3 overs and even producing an edge off the bat of Kuhnemann which couldn't be grabbed by wicketkeeper KS Bharat. Left-arm spinner Jadeja bowled a couple of overs before the hosts deciding to give the final over of the day to their pace spearhead Mohammed Shami but they couldn't get the early breakthrough they needed. Australia currently trail by 88 runs with a maximum of 90 overs to be bowled on the final day of the game on Monday.

For Australia, Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy were the best bowlers on a wicket with hardly any assistance to them. Lyon produced a spell of 3 for 151 while Murphy took 3 wickets for 113. Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhnemann were the other wicket takers for the Aussies.
