New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced names of the nominees for the Player of the Month for December 2021. Indian cricket team's young Test opener Mayank Agarwal has been named as one of the nominees for ICC Player of the Month (December 2021). He is accompanied by Australia's sensational speedster Mitchell Starc and history-making New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel.
Team India's limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma was not part of India's tour of South Africa and New Zealand's tour of India after which Mayank Agarwal batted as an opener and delivered well in the Test series against New Zealand and South Africa.
Mayank scored a remarkable century (150) in the Mumbai Test against New Zealand and then played an innings of 62 runs against South Africa in Centurion. The left-arm pacer, who played a key role in Australia's clinical win in the Ashes series against England, picked up 14 wickets in three Tests last month and scored 117 runs with an average of 58.5.
