ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule: West Indies & USA To Host Tournament From June 4 To 30 - Report
The previous edition of T20 World Cup was played in 2022 in October in which England won the summit clash by beating Pakistan in the final.
T20 World Cup 2024 schedule: The 9th edition of T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and America, next year. According to ESPNCricinfo, T20 World Cup 2024 tournament will start from June 4 and the final will be played on June 20. While finalizing the Future Tour program, ICC had indicated that the T20 World Cup 2023 will be held in June, next year. The previous edition of T20 World Cup was played in 2022 in October in which England won the summit clash by beating Pakistan in the final. India were knocked out in the semi-finals.

The website reported that an ICC delegation visited the five shortlisted venues in the US this week. The shortlisted venues will host an international global cricket event for the first time. The shortlisted venues include Morrisville, Dallas and New York as well as Lauderhill in Florida for tournament matches and warm-ups. Notably, 20-team T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, jointly hosted by West Indies and USA, will be played across 10 venues.
A total of 20 teams will take part in the tournament, including Ireland, Scotland and Papua New Guinea, having qualified for the tournament earlier this week through ICC's regional qualifiers. Apart from them, cricket teams of Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, West Indies and USA have qualified so far.
12 teams had already qualified for T20 World Cup 2024 even before the regional qualifiers. West Indies and USA get direct entry as they are the hosts. Apart from them, eight teams - Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka - qualified for World Cup by virtue of being the top 8 teams at 2022 T20 World Cup. Afghanistan and Bangladesh qualified on the basis of their current T20 International rankings.
As per ESPNCricinfo report, T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in a different format than the previous two editions. 20 teams will be divided into four groups of 5 teams each for the first stage, in which the top 2 teams will qualify for the Super 8s. The teams of Super 8s will be divided into two groups of 4 teams each, in which the top 2 teams of both the groups will reach the semi-finals.
