Cameron Bancroft gets hit on throat during live match, taken to hospital
He has been ruled out of tomorrow’s 50-over match against Warner’s City Cyclones
Banned Australian Test opener Cameron Bancroft has suffered a huge blow a day ahead of his next match at the NT Strike League limited-overs competition to be played on Sunday. The 25-year-old cricketer was hit on his throat after which he has been taken to the hospital.
This injury has resulted in his ousting from tomorrow’s marquee match-up with his former Test opening partner, David Warner.
Ahead of getting hurt, Bancroft scored a magnificent fifty, playing for the Desert Blaze against Southern Storm. Before finishing the game, he aimed a scoop against NT seamer Kurt Johnston. The full-length delivery took Bancroft’s bat’s top-edge and flew directly into the underside of his jaw and windpipe, which caused the usually unflinching batter to prop on his knees in obvious discomfort.
However, Bancroft got up himself but got dismissed a few deliveries later. He ended up scoring 62 off 66 deliveries and was then taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for a precautionary scan. Following this incident, he has been ruled out of tomorrow’s 50-over match against Warner’s City Cyclones.
