Afghanistan Independence Day: T20I Captain Rashid Khan Wishes For 'Peaceful, Developed & United' Nation

Afghanistan Independence Day: Afghanistan got its Independence in 1919 on 19 August. It is the celebration of the signing of the Anglo-Afghan treaty. 

Amid the ongoing developments in Afghanistan, the Pashtun country is also celebrating its Independence Day on 19 August. Rashid Khan, Afghanistan's T20I captain has wished his fellow countrymen. As the country is witnessing a regime change, the leg-break bowler wished for a "peaceful" Afghanistan.  

On Afghanistan's Independence Day, Rashid on his Twitter handle wrote: "Today let us take some time to value our nation and never forget the sacrifices. We hope and pray for the peaceful, developed, and united nation."

Afghanistan celebrates its Independence Day on 19 August. They gained independence from British control on August 19 in 1919 following the signing of the Anglo-Afghan treaty. 

Rashid Khan is currently in England playing The Hundred while his family is still in Afghanistan as the Taliban took over. He opened up about his worries to England's former cricketer Kevin Pietersen.

"We had a long chat here on the boundary talking about it and he (Rashid Khan) is worried: he can't get his family out of Afghanistan and there's a lot of things happening for him," Kevin Pietersen told Sky Sports. 

On the other hand, Afghanistan Cricket Board's CEO Hamid Shinwari told news agency PTI, “Taliban loves cricket. They have supported us since the beginning. They did not interfere in our activities."
