Today Marks 13 Years Since India’s Momentous Victory Against Pakistan In The 2007 ICC World Twenty20

On this day in 2007, India made history when it won the T20 World Cup after playing against Pakistan.

New Delhi:  13 years ago on this day, India had marked history by winning the T20 World Cup after playing against Pakistan. The team won the cup under the leadership of then-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The 2007 historical final match took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. Twelve participating teams were divided into groups of three, to begin with, India and Pakistan were in the same group – Group D. India got to 141 for 9 in twenty overs, India won 3–0 with Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa scoring for India. In the Super 8s, India lost to New Zealand by 10 runs but then defeated England and host South Africa by 18 and 37 runs. Meanwhile, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 33 runs. Pakistan also defeated Australia and Bangladesh by four wickets. India faced Australia in the second semi-final match and won. All to bring India and Pakistan to face each other at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. After winning the coin toss, India chose to bat first, making a 157/5 in 20 overs. Pakistan went into the last over needing 13 runs to win, with only 1 wicket remaining. Misbah-ul-Haq was caught out by Sreesanth.
