Magha Vinayaka Chaturthi falls on February 1, 2025. On this day, Ganesh Jayanti will also be celebrated. Magha Shukla Ganesh Jayanti is primarily observed in Maharashtra and the coastal regions of Konkan. In other parts of India, the Chaturthi that falls in the month of Bhadrapada is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi. It is also known as Magha Shukla Chaturthi, Til Kund Chaturthi, and Varad Chaturthi.

Ganesh Jayanti Puja Vidhi

  • On Ganesh Jayanti, after taking a bath and meditating in the morning, take a vow to observe the Ganapati Bappa fast.  
  • At an auspicious time during the day, set up an idol or picture of Lord Ganesha on a raised platform with a red cloth.  
  • Sprinkle Ganga water and offer your respects to Lord Ganesh.  
  • Apply sindoor to Lord Ganesha and light incense and lamps.  
  • Offer Ganesha his favourite items: modaks, laddoos, flowers, sindoor, sacred thread (janeu), and 21 blades of grass (durva).  
  • Later, perform Ganesh Aarti with the entire family. On this day, avoid sighting the moon.
