In Sharadiya Navratri 2024, Mahashtami will be observed on October 11, 2024. Sandhi Puja is a significant ritual that is also performed on this day. It is the eighth day of Durga Puja celebrations.

Why Are Ashtami And Navami Special In Sharadiya Navratri?

On Mahashtami, unmarried girls, also known as Kanyas, are worshipped as manifestations of Goddess Durga herself. This ritual is called Kanya Puja and is believed to please Goddess Durga. Sandhi Puja, performed in the evening, holds great significance as it commemorates the moment when Goddess Durga defeated the demons Chand and Mund.
