1. Ramanathaswamy Temple, Tamil Nadu:

Ramanathaswamy Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple has a special significance in Hindu mythology because it is said that Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva before waging war with Ravana. The temple is one of the longest and most intricately designed corridors in South Indian temples, with fine pillar work and carvings. Rameswaram is one of the Char Dhams, a destination for pilgrims by the millions for spiritual relief.

Virupaksha Temple stands on the banks of the serene Tungabhadra River as a magnificent example of the architectural finesse of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Virupaksha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its towering gopuram and intricately carved ornaments. It was built in the 7th century but has got a lot of enhancements from various rulers in their glory and fame. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Virupaksha Temple also serves as a centre for marriages and the energetic Virupaksha-Pampa festival that takes place during December.

Located on the Vaigai River, the Meenakshi Temple is a classic example of architecture that has been constructed to Goddess Parvati and her consort, Lord Shiva. Known to the masses by the name of Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, the existing structure falls between 1623 and 1655 CE depicting grandeur within the Dravidian architecture. Its gopurams that are so long, its ornate shrines and magnificent halls are really bright with unique features like the statue of Meenakshi holding a parrot and the Nataraja right raised leg which means dynamic energy.

The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, located in the beautiful hill town of Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, is one of the most widely sought and visited temples in South India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, popularly known as Tirupati Balaji, and the construction dates back to 300 AD. It has emerged as one of the wealthiest temples in the world with the charity received from pilgrims. This 12th century CE Dravidian architecture temple is at Darasuram near Kumbakonam. Dedicated to the Lord Shiva, the Jambukeswara Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to the mythology, the name of this temple originates from the white elephant of Indra Airavata, who is said to have worshipped here. It has gained considerable popularity among devotees and tourists alike due to the famous stone carvings adorning the temple-capturing scenes and stories from Hindu mythology for those enamored with both art and history.
