Snack Crispy Batata Vada Recipe
Crispy Batata Vada is a popular Indian street food made with spiced mashed potatoes coated in a crunchy batter. It's a perfect and quick snack for busy days.

Ingredients
- 4 Piece FOR FILLING: Potato
- 1 Piece Onion
- 2 Piece Green Chillies
- 0.5 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 0.5 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 2 Pinch Turmeric Powder
- 0.5 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Coriander
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- Salt
- 1 Cup FOR BATTER: Chickpea Flour
- 2 Pinch Turmeric Powder
- 0.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- Salt
- Water
- Oil
Cooking Instructions
Take a pan and heat little oil in it. Then, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and saute them. Once done, then add ginger garlic paste and green chillies.
Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix everything well.
Add in the boiled and mashed potatoes, lemon juice, and chopped coriander leaves. Cook properly for a while and then let it cool.
Divide it into equal portions and shape into round balls.
Take a bowl, mix chickpea flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt.
Add water to it and make a thick batter.
Take a deep frying pan and heat oil in it. Then, add potato balls into the batter and place them in the frying pan.
Fry potato balls till they turn golden brown and crispy.
Remove the vadas and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Serve the hot Batata Vada with green or tamarind chutney to enhance the flavour.
