Ingredients
- 0.5 Cup Rice
- 4 Cup Full Fat Milk
- 0.5 Cup Sugar
- 3 Piece Cardamom Pods
- 1 Pinch Saffron Strands
- 2 Tablespoon Chopped Dry Fruits (cashews, almonds, pistachios)
- 1 Tablespoon Ghee
- Rose Petals
Cooking Instructions
Rinse rice properly to remove any excess starch. Drain the water and set rice aside.
Take a deep pan, and add milk to it. Let the milk boil and stir occasionally to prevent the milk from burning.
Once the milk boils, add the rice to it and let it cook on low heat. Keep on stirring it regularly. Let the rice cook until it becomes soft.
Add sugar to the pan and let it dissolve. Then, add crushed cardamom pods and saffron strands to it.
Take a separate pan, heat ghee in it a lightly roast chopped dry fruits until they are golden brown. Add it to kheer for an added flavour.
Let kheer simmer for a while. It should have a creamy consistency with the rice fully cooked.
Remove it from heat and it cool down. Garnish it with more dry fruits and rose petals. You can serve it chilled or warm, according to your preference.
