Unique Revenge: You Can Name A Cockroach After Your Ex — A Valentine's Day 'Project' In UK

New Delhi: This Valentine’s Day, jilted lovers are going in for revenge big time, and in a unique way. They are naming a cockroach after their ex.
The Hemsley Conservation Centre in southeastern England is running the ‘project’ as a fundraiser, and it is apparently flooded with requests from all over the world.
"If you've had a particularly nasty break up and you need a pick me up, it's a good way to have a little giggle to yourself or with your friends," operations manager Henry Weedon was quoted as saying in a Reuters report.
The centre is also open to adding politicians' names to its ‘Roach Board’.
"All names are welcome,” Weedon told Reuters, adding that they are doing this only to raise money for the projects being carried out at the zoo.
According to the zoo website, it charges 1.50 pounds to allow a user to name a cockroach.
“The start of 2022 let's face it, hasn't been great... and if you have been dumped recently it is even worse. But now it is time to cast those negative thoughts and feelings aside and to put a smile back on your face! For those that don’t quite require revenge, there’s another way to make you feel better about getting back at your ex on Valentine’s Day,” the website says, and goes on to offer the chance to people name a cockroach after “worthless ex” for £1.50.
“Of course, if you wanted to name your least favourite politician too, we wouldn't blame you!” it adds.
Those paying up for this will receive a downloadable certificate, and the name of the person’s ex will be added to the zoo’s roach board that will be revealed on Valentine's Day.
The zoo ran this project in 2019 and 2020 too.
