Rajasthan Man Swallows 56 Razor Blades, Doctors Perform 3-Hour-Long Surgery To Remove The Metals

In a bizarre incident in Rajasthan's Jalore district, a man swallowed 56 razor blades one by one. The incident came to light after 26-year-old accountant named Yashpal Singh was taken to a hospital as he complained of stomach pain and began to vomit blood, reported NDTV.

The man lived with four of his friends and informed them of the complication after which his roommates rushed him to Mediplus Hospital. The doctors performed sonography and came to find blades inside Singh's stomach. An endoscopy was also done after which the doctors decided to immediately operate upon him, according to the report.

Soon, a surgery was performed and 56 blades were operated out of Singh's stomach by the team of doctors led by Narsi Ram Devasi.

According to Devasi, It took 3 hours for the seven-member team of doctors to remove the blades that had also caused several cuts in many places inside the accountant's body.

Singh had split the blades and swallowed three packets along with the plastic cover in order to avoid any injury while swallowing them. But when the plastic melted inside the stomach it caused severe cuts and internal bleeding due to which he started to vomit blood.

"It is possible that the young man had anxiety or depression, due to which he ate 3 whole packets of blades," the doctor told NDTV.

The relatives of the man were shocked to know about the incident and said they did not know the reason behind his behaviour. The also recalled Singh being normal when they last spoke with him. Singh is yet to reveal the reason for consuming somany razor blades.

Meanwhile, his condition is said to be stable.
