'Will Strengthen Connectivity, Boost Employment': PM Modi Unveils Projects Worth Rs 11,000 Cr In Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates and lays the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 11,000 crore in Guwahati
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched various development projects worth around Rs 11,600 crore at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Assam.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi stated: "The inauguration of projects worth Rs 11,000 crore, will strengthen the connectivity of Assam, northeast with other countries of South Asia. These projects will increase employment opportunities in the tourism sector."

Taking a dig at Congress, PM Modi stated: "Before the BJP government in Assam, there were only 6 medical colleges, whereas today there are 12 medical colleges. Assam is today becoming a major centre for cancer treatment in the Northeast."

The foundation stones for several major projects have been laid, including the Kamakhya temple corridor (Rs 498 crore), the six-lane road from the new airport terminal (Rs 358 crore) in Guwahati, the upgrade of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (Rs 831 crore), and a new sports complex in Chandrapur (Rs 300 crore).
The Prime Minister will also launch the second edition of Asom Mala roads. This phase will contain 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, for a total investment of Rs 3,444 crore.

The Prime Minister will additionally unveil the framework for an integrated new facility for the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, which would cost Rs 3,250 crore to build.
He will also lay the groundwork for the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which would cost Rs 578 crore, as well as the Rs 297 crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.
Modi will also inaugurate a newly constructed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, costing Rs 1,451 crore, and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, costing Rs 592 crore.
