Manipur Govt Constitutes Inquiry Commission Into Abduction, Killing Of Army Jawan In Imphal
The Manipur government has constituted a One Man Inquiry Commission into the death and abduction of a soldier who was killed by some unknown armed men while he was on leave.
Following the killing of Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom, a member of the Army's Defence Security Corps, the Manipur government has constituted a One Man Inquiry Commission to ascertain the facts and circumstances that led to the abduction and killing of the soldier, reported news agency PTI. The commission will be headed by IPS Themthing Ngashangva. The final report on the inquiry will be submitted within a month, read the government order. The lifeless body of an Indian Army soldier was discovered on Sunday in the Khuningthek village, situated in Manipur's Imphal East district.

Sepoy Kom was a native of Tarung in Imphal West. He was on leave at the time of his death.
PRO, Kohima and Imphal, Ministry of Defence informed about the unfortunate death of Kom on X (formerly known as Twitter). The PRO wrote, "An Indian Army soldier, Sep Serto Thangthang Kom (41), was abducted and later killed, by 3 unidentified miscreants, while on leave at Tarung, Happy Valley, Imphal West. He was deployed at DSC Platoon, Leimakhong, Manipur. He is survived by his wife and 2 children."

According to news agency PTI, authorities reported that some unidentified armed miscreants abducted Sepoy Kom on Saturday at 10 am from his residence. The sole eyewitness to the crime was his 10-year-old son who recounted that three unidentified men entered their home while he and his father were working on the porch.
The armed assailants pointed a gun at Kom's head and compelled him to enter into a white vehicle before speeding away from the scene.
There was radio silence on Kom's whereabouts throughout Saturday leaving his family in distress. The next day at around 9:30 am, his lifeless body was discovered in Khuningthek village, east of Mongjam.
