The Army displayed their latest and sophisticated weapons and equipment in the event held at Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Spear Corps Warriors of the Indian Army has organised a "Know Your Army" event at Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district to strengthen the bond between the civilians and jawans and to motivate youths to join the force.

The Army displayed their latest and sophisticated weapons and equipment in the event on Tuesday, enabling the youth to witness a wide array of weaponry used by the forces.

Modern rifles, machine guns, mortars, optical and communication equipment were on display in the event.

The functioning of each weapon was explained to the youths. The youths also had the opportunity to witness the functioning of thermal imaging and magnification power of surveillance devices.

The different avenues to join the Indian Army, both as an officer and soldier, were explained, with special emphasis on the Agnipath Scheme.

On June 14, 2022 the government announced the Agnipath scheme for recruitment of soldiers into the armed forces for four years. Under the new scheme, around 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually, and most will leave the service in four years. Of the total annual recruits, only 25 per cent will be allowed to continue for another 15 years under permanent commission.

The procedure, benefits and terms and conditions were also explained to the youths in the event.

A motivational movie was also shown, showcasing the charm, adventure and the passion of the Indian Army.

A small clip showing the life of a local girl, Ipupu Mena, in the movie was met with exhilaration, while being highly motivating at the same time.

Over 450 youths from every nook and corner of the remotest region of the country attended the event. The event generated tremendous enthusiasm amongst the youths, who came in large numbers.

The "Join Indian Army" corner event was much appreciated by the youths, students, and teachers.

The event was attended by Superintendent of Police, Upper Subansiri, and officials of civil administration, including the Additional Asst Commissioner, District Medical Officer, and District Info Tech Officer, among others.
