Donald Trump Crosses Majority Mark, Set To Become Next US President As Kamala Harris Trails

Harris is reportedly not planning to address the public on Wednesday night, a person familiar with the White House told AP on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump crossed the majority mark of 270 electoral votes and is set to become the next President of the United States, as per a Fox News report. Trump secured 277 electoral votes, defeating Democrat Kamala Harris, who won 226 electoral votes.

Harris's campaign has long asserted that her surest way to 270 electoral votes was through Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, states Trump won in 2016 and Biden captured narrowly in 2020.

Trump To Address Campaign Event

Trump will soon address a camping event, while Harris is reportedly not planning to address the public on Wednesday night, a person familiar with the White House told AP on the condition of anonymity.

Earlier, Trump said he would admit defeat “if it’s a fair election” while he continued to voice concerns about electronic voting machines. "If I lose an election, if it's a fair election, I would be the first one to acknowledge it... So far I think it's been fair.” news agency AFP quoted him as saying.

Trump repeated his previous criticism regarding electronic voting machines, he suggested that they were less secure than paper ballots and it would delay the outcome from being revealed.

"They spend all this money on machines... If they would use paper ballots, voter ID, proof of citizenship, and one-day voting, it would all be over by 10 o'clock in the evening. It's crazy," he told reporters in West Palm Beach.

He said that the paper is watermarked so it is hard to "it’s hard to cheat" and that paper is more "sophisticated" than computers.

When he was asked about fears of unrest after the election and whether he would call on supporters to avoid violence, he said, "I don't have to tell them that, that there'll be no violence. Of course there'll be no violence. My supporters are not violent people".
