Who Is Abhay Kumar Singh? Putin's Legislator From Bihar Who Justified Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing military advance by Russia in Ukraine and the continued bombardments on major cities of the war-torn nation, Abhay Kumar Singh, an Indian-origin member of Putin's party has made headlines lately for his unconditional support to Vladimir Putin's military action on Ukraine.

In an exclusive conversation with ABP News, Singh once again justified Russia's military attack on Ukraine and reiterated Moscow's claim that the Russian military is not attacking civilians and is only targeting military camps in Ukraine.

While talking about the chances of a nuclear attack by Russia on Ukraine, Singh said that Moscow will never attack first, but if a country attacks Russia, it will do everything to defend itself.

"One should not worry about nuclear weapons. President Putin has clearly mentioned that Russia's nuclear exercise was being conducted only to respond if another country attacks us. If another country attacks us, Russia will respond in all forms", said the Russian legislator.

Singh also pointed out that India has been an old ally of Russia and Putin has ordered its army officials not to harm any Indian citizens in Ukraine.

In the interview, he also said that Russia will allow Indian students to return home without any hindrance. On the death of an Indian student in Ukraine's Kharkiv during Russian shelling on Tuesday, Singh claimed that it was the Ukrainian army that attacked the students in the area.

Further justifying Russia's move, Singh drew a parallel with India's relations with China and said aksed how will New Delhi react if Beijing sets up its military base in Bangladesh?

"Russia is doing the same what India would have done in this case," he said.

1. Abhay Kumar Singh is a deputat, a post like an MLA in India, from Kursk, a city located in Western Russia.

2. Singh, who hails from Bihar's capital Patna went to Russia to pursue medical education. After completing his degree, he came back to Patna and practised for a while, but later decided to settle in Kursk. 

3. He started a business in Kursk and later joined politics. He contested and won elections from Putin's United Russia party.

4. Before being elected as a deputat in Kursk, Singh was already an influential figure due to his business and political connections.

5. After the success of his pharmaceutical business, Singh expanded in the field of real estate and construction. He joined Vladimir Putin's United Russia Party in 2015 and became the deputat of Kursk in 2018.
