Global Toll Of Positive Coronavirus Cases Surpasses Four Million

According to the data by Johns Hopkins University, the global toll of confirmed coronavirus cases has surpassed four million.

New Delhi: The global toll of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 4,101,699 and the death toll has reached 282,709. According to the data by Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University the United States continue to lead the list of countries with the highest concentration of coronavirus with 1,329,260 cases. It is followed by Spain with 224,350 and United Kingdom with 220,449 cases. Recently many European countries have started easing their lockdown with several relaxations. In Spain, many regions will move to phase 1 of the lockdown lift. According to an IANS report the government is planning on a four-stage de-escalation process. But the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has warned citizens that “the virus has not disappeared. The fight will continue and will not end until there is a vaccine." In Germany days after the country eased the lockdown, there seems to be a rise in coronavirus cases. Reports say that according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) the reproduction rate - the estimated number of people a confirmed patient infects - is now above 1 and it means the number of infections is now rising in the country. On Saturday, many Germans had protested for a total end to the lockdown. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has unveiled a "conditional plan" to bring relaxations to the lockdown. From Wednesday, Johnson informed that many activities may be allowed such as reopening of shops. The government has also set up a new COVID Alert System with five levels that would govern how quickly lockdown restrictions could be eased. This system will rank the threat level from coronavirus on a scale of one to five in different regions of the country. Also Watch:  Coronavirus attacks White House In the United States which is the global epicentre of the coronavirus, US Vice President Mike Pence has started distancing himself from others after his press secretary tested positive for the coronavirus. In New York which has the highest number of cases in the country, three children died of an illness that is related to coronavirus. Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the illness seems to be a "new" syndrome that caused inflammation of blood vessels, leading to possible heart problems. He also said that health authorities were reviewing 73 similar cases of children across the state. According to an advisory issued by the state's health department, the multi-system inflammatory syndrome has features that overlap with Kawasaki Disease and Toxic Shock Syndrome, including persistent fever, abdominal symptoms, rash, and cardiovascular changes.
