Beirut: Just over a month after the massive explosion at Lebanon's Beirut port, a huge fire broke out at the spot on Thursday. IN PICS: 'Catastrophic' Blaze Engulfs Beirut Port Barely A Month After Massive Explosion Shocked Lebanese Capital
The explosion in August had killed over 190 people and this fresh fire incident has caused panic among locals already scarred by the last tragedy.
As per early reports, the incident occurred in a store of oil and tires where according to sources, a cooking oil caught fire which subsequently spread to the stores of vehicle tyres.
The statement of the Lebanese Army confirmed that the fire at Beirut Port broke out in a warehouse containing oil and tires in the duty-free area and helicopters were sent to extinguish it.
Several people took to Twitter to share visuals of the fire.

The Army was seen telling people in the vicinity of Beirut port to evacuate. Another video circulating showed workers fleeing the area. The public prosecutor has ordered an immediate investigation. The incident has added to the trauma of Lebanese people who are yet to receive clear answers over last month's explosion that shocked one and all. Because of the gross security negligence, the Lebanese government including Prime Minister Hassan Diab was forced to resign after angry protesters took to the streets once again. However, the new accident has restoked panic among the people. What does the probe reveal, remains to be seen.
