The Jammu Kashmir top cop was speaking during a specialised training session for Jammu Kashmir police officers in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau, Jammu.

52 kilograms of heroin was seized at Jajar Kotli on Thursday. Before that huge amounts of different drugs were seized from Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara and other bordering regions. Referring to these incidents, the Director General of Police said, “Pakistan is pushing huge quantities of drugs for terror funding in a planned manner and getting our youths involved in the menace to satisfy its evil intentions."

He noted the need to improve the conviction rate in the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances cases. The DGP further said that cases of drug smuggling and trading must be investigated professionally to ensure conviction in such cases without leaving any doubts.

He also stressed that the inter-state drug nexus should be identified.

During the occasion, DGP Dilbagh Singh thaked the NCB Chief SN Pradhan for providing a faculty team for training the Jammu and Kashmir police.

He said that the training programme was aimed at increasing the efficiency of Jammu and Kashmir police officers regarding investigation of NDPS cases. “Given the magnitude of the problem this training course is of great importance,” he added.
