As the election date comes closer, the battle for Delhi is heating up, with the three major parties — the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress — engaged in a war of words. While allies in the Lok Sabha, the Congress and the AAP are contesting the Delhi polls separately. The AAP, looking to retain Delhi, has adopted a soft Hindutva approach to challenge the BJP’s hegemony over the issue.
