Aviation Ministry Seeks Detailed Report From Vistara Over Cancellation, Flight Delays
Vistara Airlines has been asked by the aviation ministry to furnish a detailed report for flight cancellation and delays in the past week.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has sought a detailed report from Vistara regarding cancellation and delay of over 100 flights in the past week, reported ANI on Tuesday.
"Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) sought a detailed report from Vistara regarding flight cancellations and major delays, with the airline having cancelled or delayed over 100 flights in the past week," said the news agency.
Taking action on the issue, Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked the airline to submit daily information and details on the flights being cancelled and delayed.
Vistara has also been asked to ensure that the relevant provisions of CAR Section-3, Series M, Part-IV on “Facilities to be provided to passengers by airlines due to denied boarding, cancellation of flights and delays in flights” are complied with like advance information, an option of refund, compensation (if applicable) etc. to the passengers.

The DGCA also said that its officials are monitoring the situation to ensure compliance of the above mentioned CAR and minimise passenger inconvenience.
As per a report by news agency PTI, the full-service carrier is going to temporarily reduce its flight operations due to a shortage of pilots, which reportedly resulted in the cancellation of approximately 50 flights on Monday and the number could surge to 70 on Tuesday.
The airline has been facing a shortage of first officers for its A320 flee, who have been reporting sick over the past few weeks in protest against changes in their emoluments due to new contracts, the PTI report added.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the airline, a spokesperson for Vistara said that a significant number of flight cancellations and delays in the past few days were caused by various reasons, including crew unavailability.
