'There Is A Poison In Mind Of Kharge': BJP Seeks Congress Chief's Apology For Remark On PM Modi

Slamming Kharge over his remarks, Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated: "Congress should apologise to the nation."

After Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge's "poisonous snake" remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Chief Minister & BJP Leader Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday slammed Kharge and stated that the poison lies in his mind, news agency ANI reported. BJP further demanded an apology from Kharge over his statement against PM Modi. Spearking a row, Kharge had earlier said: "PM Modi is like a 'poisonous snake', you might think it’s poison or not. If you lick it, you’re dead."

Speaking with media, Karnataka CM stated: "There is a poison in the mind of Kharge. It's a prejudiced mind towards PM Modi and BJP. This kind of thinking comes because of desperation as they are unable to fight him politically and they are seeing that their ship is sinking... People will teach them a lesson."

After facing backlash from BJP, Kharge stated that his remarks were not meant for PM Modi and he meant BJP's ideology was "like a snake". "I never said this personally for PM Modi, what I said was their (BJP) ideology is like a snake and if you try to touch it, your death is certain," Kharge later clarified.

Slamming Kharge over his remarks, Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated: "Congress should apologise to the nation." He further stated the Congress chief's statement was worse than that given by Sonia Gandhi, referring to the UPA chairperson's infamous "maut ka saudagar" comment on Modi.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan slammed Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on his comment on PM Modi, and stated: "Kharge ji used such words to appease his political masters..."

Reacting to Kharge's remark, BJP leader & Union minister Shobha Karandlaje said: "Mallikarjun Kharge is a senior leader and president of Congress. What does he want to tell the world? PM Narendra Modi is the PM of our country and the whole world respects him and using such language for PM shows the level to which Congress has stooped. We want him (Kharge) to apologise to the country."
