Sanjay Raut's Judicial Custody Extended Till September 5 In Patra Chawl land Scam Case

Sanjay Raut Custody: Special PMLA court extends Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's judicial custody till 5th September.

A special court in Mumbai on Monday extended the judicial custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut till September 5, 2022, in connection with a money laundering case, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier, the court had sent Raut to the judicial custody till August 22, 2022. The Enforcement Directorate arrested the 60-year-old Sena leader in connection with the Patra Chawl land fraud case. He has previously disregarded inquiry summons, according to the central investigation agency.

Raut was arrested on July 31 by the investigation agency and was previously placed in ED custody till August 8 by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court. His imprisonment was extended after he appeared before the special court again.

The investigation agency stated that cash worth over ten lakh rupees was found from his residence on the day he was detained. The money, according to the Sena MP's brother, belongs to the party.

Raut previously alleged that Shinde's insurrection was successful because the party MPs were threatened with an ED inquiry. He also claimed to have received an invitation to join the rebel camp.

On the day of his incarceration, he invoked Balasaheb Thackeray and stated that he will not resign from Sena.
