VK Sasikala Health Update: Former AIADMK Leader Under Observation After Being Tested Postive For Covid-19
The 66-year-old leader is presently in the dedicated Covid-19 centre of the Victoria Hospital in the city and her condition was stable, as per the hospital sources.
V K Sasikala, the close aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been tested positive for Covid-19 after being admitted in a hospital on Thursday. She was admitted in the government Bowring Hospital on Thursday after complaining of fever and breathlessness . Earlier the former AIADMK general secretary was being treated at the jail hospital but later taken to the Bowring Hospital for a second opinion. The 66-year-old leader is presently in the dedicated Covid-19 centre of the Victoria Hospital in the city and her condition was stable, as per the hospital sources. Her previous Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR test reports were negative. However, fresh tests were conducted on Thursday.
She was taken to Victoria hospital on Thursday at 2.30 PM, with CT severity score of 16/25 and throat swab for coronaiurs turned out to be positive. She has been further diagnosed with Covid-19 severe pneumonia along with Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism. She is currently being treated with standard Covid-19 protocol at the Trauma Care Centre of Victoria Hospital
On her assessment of the vital statistics, the pulse rate is at 62bpm, blood pressure at 100/68 mm of Hg, Respiratory Rate 20cpm. The leader is under observation.
Sasikala is currently serving a four-year jail term in a disproportionate assets case was convicted by the Supreme Court in a disproportionate assets case along with two of her relatives - Illavarasi and Sudhakaran- lodged in the same Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru. While serving the imprisonment in Parappana Agrahara jail, she has deposited fine of Rs 10 crore and 10 thousand in Bengaluru sessions court. The amount has been paid by account holders Pazhanivelu, Vasantha Devi, Hema and Vivek.
The former AIADMK leader is all set to walk out from the prison on January 27, a day that coincides with unveiling of J Jayalalitha's memorial at the Marina Beach in Chennai by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister EK Palaniswami. Her exit from the prison could prove to be a major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics ahead of the next year’s Assembly elections.
