'Party Has An Eye On Everyone': Abhishek Banerjee As TMC Leaders Face Protests Amid Mass Outreach Campaign
Banerjee said party members working for their 'own benefits' have no future in the organisation. His comments come in the backdrop of TMC leaders facing protests during the public outreach programme.
New Delhi: TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday said party members working for their “own benefits” have no future in the organisation, as reported by the news agency PTI. Banerjee’s comments come in the backdrop of some TMC leaders facing protests in various parts of the state during the public outreach programme ‘Didir Suraksha Kawach’. On the upcoming rural polls, Banerjee said, “the block leaders won't decide the candidature. Mamata Banerjee will decide that,” as quoted by PTI.
Banerjee, while addressing a mega rally at Keshpur in West Midnapore district, said that party chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would take a call on who get tickets for the panchayat polls, which are due this year.
“The party has an eye on everyone; it clearly knows which gram pradhan is working for the people and those working for own benefits. However, those who think that they can continue working for themselves, are mistaken. Mend your ways or else you won't have any future in our party,” he said, as quoted by PTI.
The Diamond Harbour MP, while referring to his often-repeated phrase of a “new Trinamool”, said in the next few years, the party needs to make sure that it consistently works for the people. “The leaders endorsed by the people will be our candidates,” he said. Abhishek Banerjee also alleged that goons who once worked for the CPI(M) have now joined hands with the BJP.
Banerjee slammed the Centre for sending central teams to West Bengal, and said attempts are on to malign the state government as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had not bowed before it. He also dubbed the state BJP leaders “anti-Bengal”, as they have also “played a role in stopping the flow of funds” to the state.
“People here know how the BJP-led central government has halted funds for Bengal. It is doing this out of vengeance, because the party could not win the assembly elections in 2021,” he said, while addressing a mega rally at Keshpur, as reported by PTI. He said that the TMC leadership would never surrender before the “corrupt” BJP regime.
“Mamata Banerjee has never bowed her head in front of these dishonest BJP politicians, and she will never do it. She has the love and affection of the people, and they will give the answer to BJP's injustice. “BJP leaders are sending central teams... However, they couldn't find even one case of fraud. The teams were sent to malign the people of the state,” he alleged.
