Navjot Singh Talks Of 'New Friendships', Trade Between Pakistan And India During Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Visit
“There is a need to open windows in the walls erected in 74 years (between India and Pakistan). There should be trade between two countries," said Sidhu.
New Delhi: During his visit to the visa-free Kartarpur corridor for Sikh pilgrims on Tuesday, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu talked about opening ‘new friendships’ and trade between the two countries while offering prayers at the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan on Saturday.
Sidhu compared how Europe stayed relatively peaceful after the two world wars.

"After the World wars in which millions of people lost their lives, if Europe can open borders on one-visa, has one passport and one currency, why not in this region of ours where we have figures like Bhagat Singh and Maharaja Ranjeet Singh who are revered by everyone?, “he said in a report by PTI.
The report also said that he had visited the Gurudwara complex along with his delegation members and they offered ‘langar’ made from the wheat and vegetables of the fields, which Guru Nanak Dev used to look after.
“There is a need to open windows in the walls erected in 74 years (between India and Pakistan). There should be trade between two countries," said Sidhu.
He also thanked Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan for taking ‘the first step’.
“I had already said that those favouring the 'laanga' (corridor) would have blessings and those opposing it had no value”, he said.
The 4 km-long Kartarpur corridor connect Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, which is known as the Guru Nanak Dev who founded Sikhism, with the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district in India's Punjab state.
The corridor was inaugurated in 2019 by the Pak PM as part of the commemoration of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
