The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken extended greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr saying the festival comes at a time when many Muslim communities in the world are suffering. He brought up the situation of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, civilians in Syria, Uyghurs in China, Rohingyas of Myanmar, and women under the rule of the Taliban among others.

"As we near the end of the holy month of Ramadan, I wish Muslim communities everywhere Eid Mubarak and join in hopes for a safer and more peaceful world.  As families and communities come together, we know they do so at a time when many Muslim communities worldwide are suffering," Blinken said in his message.

"Our thoughts turn to the plight of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, civilians in Syria, women suffering under the Taliban in Afghanistan, Uyghurs in the People’s Republic of China, Rohingya in Burma and Bangladesh, and far too many others," he added.

US President Joe Biden also extended greetings on the occasion, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Biden reflected on the ongoing conflict and displacement in Gaza and Sudan. "As Muslim families and communities come together for Eid al-Fitr, they are also reflecting on the pain felt by so many," he said in a post on X.

"My thoughts are with those around the world enduring conflict, hunger, and displacement, including in places such as Gaza and Sudan," he added.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also brought up the prevailing situation in Gaza saying "The bloodshed and suffering are unbearable."

“This year, I know many will be thinking particularly of those in Gaza. The bloodshed and suffering are unbearable,” he said.

“I want you to know we are doing everything we can to help bring the conflict to an end, ensure the hostages are released and get life-saving food, shelter and medical aid to civilians in Gaza,” he added.
