Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who recently cast Monalisa Bhosle, the viral Mahakumbh sensation, in his upcoming movie "The Diary of Manipur," has filed an FIR against five individuals, including a YouTube channel owner, accusing them of attempting to defame him and sabotage his film project. According to PTI, Mishra claimed that the accused are trying to derail his film.
Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra’s Allegations
The FIR was lodged at the Amboli police station in suburban Mumbai, where Mishra filed a complaint against the five individuals. The director recently announced his new project, "The Diary of Manipur," featuring Monalisa Bhosle, a 16-year-old garland seller who became an internet sensation after her captivating presence at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
An official from the Amboli police station revealed that the five men named in the complaint have made serious allegations against Mishra, particularly concerning the film’s budget and other production-related issues. According to the complaint, one of the accused alleged that "none of the films directed by Mishra has been released to date" and claimed that the filmmaker would "ruin" Bhosle’s career.
In response, Mishra dismissed these allegations as false, asserting that the accused have formed a group to tarnish his reputation. He stated, "These people are deliberately spreading false and wrong news against me. They do not want Monalisa's film 'The Diary of Manipur' to be made."
The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a further investigation is currently underway, the official added.
Who is Monalisa Bhosle?
In January, Monalisa Bhosle, who had been selling rudraksha garlands at Kila Ghat along the Narmada River, witnessed a life-changing moment when a content creator captured her selling garlands during the Mahakumbh. The viral video catapulted the 16-year-old from Khargone district in Madhya Pradesh into the spotlight, leading to Mishra signing her for his film earlier this month.
