'Anti-Muslim' Sloganeering: Former BJP Spox Ashwini Upadhyay & Five Others Arrested By Delhi Police
Delhi Police had registered an FIR against unknown persons for "inflammatory, anti-Muslim slogans" allegedly raised at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
New Delhi: After initially being detained, former Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay and five others have been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with "inflammatory sloganeering" near Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
It is alleged that Ashwini Upadhyay, among others, present during a protest march called against “Colonial-era laws” witnessed anti-Muslim sloganeering.
Delhi Police has named Ashwani Upadhyay, Vinod Sharma, Deepak Singh, Vinit Kranti, Preet Singh, Deepak as those against whom the probe for anti-Muslim sloganeering at Jantar Mantar is being conducted.
Delhi Police informed that they are handling the matter "as per law and any communal disharmony will not be tolerated."

Earlier on Monday, Delhi Police had registered an FIR against unknown persons for "inflammatory, anti-Muslim slogans" allegedly raised at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
DCP New Delhi Deepak Yadav had mentioned that the gathering done at Jantar Mantar was done with proper permissions.
"People who had gathered there had no permission. It has come to our notice that some people raised inciting & objectionable slogans. We also received a video. We've registered FIR and carrying out further investigation," he had said to news agency ANI.
Purported videos on social media surfaced where it showed people were raising anti-Muslim slogans at Jantar Mantar. The videos were duly taken under consideration by Delhi Police to check the authenticity and identify the accused in the case.
