Here's Why PUBG Ban Is Unlikely To Be Revoked Soon Despite China's Tencent Being Removed From India Ops

A source close to the government has revealed that the PM Narendra Modi-led Union government is currently in no mood to bring back PUBG for its avid gamers.

New Delhi: Reportedly, the Indian government is unlikely to revoke the ban on popular gaming app PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) even after PUBG Corp's decision to remove China's Tencent as the mobile game's publishing partner in the country. ALSO READ | Hyderabad Based IT Firms Find It Difficult To Return To Office Amid Covid Pandemic, Continue To Operate With Work From Home According to the report by news agency Reuters, a source close to the PM Narendra Modi-led Union government has revealed that centre is currently in no mood to bring back PUBG for its avid gamers. Earlier this month, PUBG joined the list of Chinese-origin mobile applications to be banned by the Indian government over ongoing tensions with China. In a damage control move, PUBG Corp, the South Korean firm unit, announced that it has withdrawn Tencent Games' involvement in India operations. However, the development is unlikely to help the viral app for now as concerns include the violent nature of the game which has been complained about earlier. The company has also been looking for a partnership with Jio, the digital unit of Reliance Industries, to bring back the game for its massive Indian userbase.
