CISF Constable Posted In Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Suspected To Be 'Honey-Trapped' By Pakistani Woman
The investigative agencies are trying to determine whether the CISF constable, Kapil Kumar, disclosed any sensitive information to the Pakistani woman.
A constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) stationed in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is suspected to have fallen victim to a Pakistani honeytrap operation. The constable, Kapil Kumar, was posted to the security division at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The constable allegedly befriended a woman named Tamisha through social media, IANS reported.
The CISF grew suspicious over his activities and initiated an inquiry. The authorities seized his mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination. The CISF filed a complaint with the Steel Plant Police Station.
Police registered a case against him under the Official Secrets Act and launched a probe.
Various agencies have come together to investigate the matter. The agencies are trying to determine whether Kapil Kumar disclosed any sensitive information to the Pakistani woman.
Visakhapatnam serves as the headquarters for the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Army. Kapil Kumar has been part of the security team at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant since 2002. He previously served at Bharat Dynamics Limited in Hyderabad.
Earlier, a scientist employed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Mumbai was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly sharing classified information with a Pakistani agent. The scientist has been accused of engaging with an agent of a 'Pakistan Intelligence Operative' via WhatsApp and video calls and falling victim to a honeytrap, reported PTI.
The accused, 60-year-old Pradeep Kurulkar, is a director of the Research and Development Establishment (Engineers), Pune. The R&DE (E) is an important facility of the DRDO, and Kurulkar was involved in several important projects, including the development of missiles.
The investigation against Kurulkar was started based on a complaint by the DRDO. He is the project leader and systems manager for Akash Ground Systems.
