New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has undertaken a 122 km motorcycle ride to promote tourism in the state. Khandu rode from Yingkiong in Upper Siang district to Pasighat in East Siang district on Sunday to promote the state as a destination for long-distance motorcycle rides, officials said on Monday. Khandu began the ride from Yingkiong Circuit House at 8 am and reached Pasighat Airport at 10.30 am. The 122 km route through good roads offers picturesque views, they added. Besides tourism, Khandu has been actively working to safeguard rights of Arunachal people after the Centre's announcement to enact the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB). He constituted a consultative committee to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people. The nine-member panel headed by Home Minister Bamang Felix will meet community based organisations, students' bodies, political parties and other organisations and submit its recommendations to the government, an official order said here on Tuesday. The recommendations will be based on the provisions of the Constitution and various laws and rules that protect the interests of indigenous people of the state, official sources said.
