Know The Food Items That You Must Avoid Before Flying

Anyone can occasionally experience digestive issues while flying, so a smart pre-flight meal can make your journey comparatively easy.

New Delhi: While waiting for long hours for our flight, it's common to plan for a quick meal before boarding, or maybe just grab some snacks to kill the time if your flight is delayed. But, there are certain food items that better be avoided before catching a flight as they might cause discomfort on your journey. While those who already have digestive conditions or have sensitive systems are more apt to experience problems, this can happen to anyone while travelling. Fortunately, making smart pre-flight meal selections can make your journey less stressful.

Here are some food items that you should avoid before flying:

1. Fried Food:

We can never refuse such a delectable appetiser, but no matter how much we crave it. prior to a journey, it's best to stay away from fried foods altogether. Fried foods can cause heartburn. They are deep-fried, so they contain oil, and they frequently contain a lot of salt, which can make you bloated and cause fluid retention.

2. Cruciferous Vegetables:

Despite the fact that vegetables are typically not classified as 'foods to avoid', cruciferous vegetables before a trip might be a different matter. Broccoli and cauliflower are examples of vegetables that may cause uncomfortable bloating, which then results in unpleasant travel!

3. Coffee:

Many of us enjoy grabbing a cup of coffee before taking off, but it's best to refrain from doing so. Aeroplanes already tend to dry your body, so when it gets combined with the dehydrating effects of caffeine, you may feel a headache or nausea.

4. Chips:

Some people might decide to substitute chips, which wouldn't be a smart move given the excessive sodium content and that may make you feel unwell.   You'll be chugging water and using the lavatory excessively while feeling bloated.

5. Gum:

While chewing gum can ease ear discomfort, but doing so also causes gas in the body because extra air is introduced into the body as you chew. Additonally, sugar and artificial sweeteners in sugar-free foods can trigger flatulence.
