‘Privilege Of Being A Comrade’: Congress Slams Bail To 'Jailer' Actor After Causing Ruckus At Police Station
A senior police officer said Vinayakan was arrested for making trouble at the police station but Vinayakan told reporters that he had no idea why he had been arrested.
Congress MLA Uma Thomas on Wednesday alleged VIPs in Kerala can abuse police officials and get away even inside a police station. The statement of Uma Thomas came after award-winning actor Vinayakan was arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with creating a ruckus in the Town police station. Later, Vinayakan was released on bail.
According to a report on IANS, Thomas said, “It is shameful what happened and how he behaved inside the police station and the words he said just cannot be said. When non-bailable charges should have been put on him, it was not done."
"If anyone suspects there was an intervention from the Cliff House (official residence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ) it should not be dismissed. So this sort of treatment is there only for comrades and if you are one, then the law will not take its course. It’s indeed shameful that VIPs can get away," she said.
'Jailer' actor Vinayakan was arrested for allegedly creating a ruckus at a police station in an inebriated state in Kochi on Tuesday, PTI reported, quoting officials. The actor was reportedly in Ernakulam Town North Police Station after police summoned him as he had an alleged dispute with his wife at his apartment.
A senior police officer said, Vinayakan was arrested for making trouble at the police station. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for a necessary medical examination.
Later, police released him on bail.
While leaving the hospital with the police following his medical check, Vinayakan told reporters that he had no idea why he had been arrested.
When asked about the reason for his arrest, the actor said, "I came to file a complaint. Please ask the police why I was brought here (hospital)."
The police official accompanying the actor to the hospital said that he was arrested for causing a commotion at the police station while inebriated. The official also said that earlier in the day, police were called to Vinayakan's apartment by the actor to resolve some issues with his wife.
