The Indian Coast Guard promptly responded to a distress call from the Indian Fishing Boat, Gurovayoorappan, which sank 30 Nautical Miles off Chavakkad, Kerala. According to ANI, ICG officials said, the Indian Coast Guard swiftly responded to a distress call from the Indian Fishing Boat Gurovayoorappan despite challenging conditions. The boat was flooded and sank 30 Nm off Chavakkad, Kerala. ICG Ship Abhinav successfully de-flooded the engine compartment and ensured the safety of all 13 crew members. Post defect rectification boat entered Munambam fishing harbour safely on 21 May.

On May 19, the India Coast Guard Ship C-148 swiftly rescued 24 passengers and 2 crew members from the tourist ferry boat Nerul Paradise, which had become stranded near Mormugao Harbour, Goa, due to rough weather conditions and fuel exhaustion.

Earlier this month, on May 7, the ICG conducted a rescue operation to save a critically-ill fisherman from the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Jazeera, situated approximately 40 nautical miles off Beypore, Kerala. The fisherman had suffered a near-drowning incident when he fell into the sea. Although initially rescued by the IFB, his health deteriorated due to water entering his lungs.

Following a distress call from the boat, the ICG promptly responded by mobilising its Advanced Light Helicopter, along with a medical team from Kochi, and deployed Aryaman & C-404 ships. Upon locating the IFB, the ICG assets airlifted the patient to Kochi from where he was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital.
