Kerala Gold Smuggling Case: Youth Congress workers in Kannur took out a rally demanding CM Pinarayi Vijayan's resignation in connection with the gold smuggling case
New Delhi: Youth Congress workers in Kerala's Kannur took out a rally on Monday demanding CM Pinarayi Vijayan's resignation in connection with the gold smuggling case. Police tried to stop the Congress workers from reaching the guest house as the CM was residing there. The angry protesters tried to remove barricades when police used water cannons to disperse them, said The Hindu report.
Despite using water cannons, the Congress workers refused to move and the police arrested them to remove the protesters from the spot. Those arrested were reportedly shifted to the AR camp. The Congress workers showed black flags to the Vijayan's convoy.
The Chief Minister reportedly reached Kannur on Sunday evening and on the police's request he was moved to the Government guest house in Kannur from his residence in Pinarayi.
