JD(S) Worker, Kin Booked For Extortion Attempt Against MLC Suraj Revanna

In a twist to the case, Chethan also lodged a police complaint on Friday, accusing Suraj Revanna of sexually assaulting him.

A JD(S) worker and his relative have been booked for allegedly attempting to extort money from party MLC Suraj Revanna by threatening to file a false sexual assault case against him. The complaint, filed by Suraj Revanna's close aide Shivakumar on Friday, led to the registration of an FIR against Chethan K S and his brother-in-law.

Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna and the elder brother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently in police custody over separate allegations of sexually assaulting multiple women which shook the state during Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

According to ANI, an FIR registered under sections 384, 506 against a JD(S) worker and his brother-in-law on the complaint filed by PA of JD(S) MLC and son of HD Revanna, Suraj Revanna. The complaint and FIR say that the worker and his brother-in-law were threatening and blackmailing the MLC with false allegations of sexual assault.

According to Shivakumar's complaint, Chethan became acquainted with him and began working for the 'Suraj Revanna Brigade'. Recently, Chethan requested financial assistance for family expenses, but when Shivakumar declined, Chethan allegedly threatened to accuse Suraj Revanna of sexual assault unless he was paid, as per a report on PTI.

Shivakumar claimed that Chethan initially demanded Rs 5 crore, later reducing the amount to Rs 2 crore.

In a twist to the case, Chethan also lodged a police complaint on Friday, accusing Suraj Revanna of sexually assaulting him.
