'We want justice': Opposition protests during PM's defence over No-Confidence Motion
New Delhi [India], July 20 (ANI): Telegu Desam Party (TDP) leaders on Friday staged a protest in the Lok Sabha during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on the No-Confidence Motion.
Soon after the Prime Minister started his speech, leaders of the Telegu Desam Party started shouting "We want justice" in the Parliament forcing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to intervene in between and ask them to stop.
Despite the protest, Prime Minister Modi continued his speech and emphasised on the various initiative taken by the Centre for the country. He even criticised the Congress for breaking Andhra Pradesh.
"Atal Bihari Vajpayee created three states - Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. It was done peacefully. These states are now prospering. However, on the other hand, Congress divided Andhra Pradesh and their conduct then was shameful," the Prime Minister said.
"When TDP was leaving NDA, I called up N. Chandrababu Naidu, warned him that you are falling into YSR Congress's trap. I want to tell the people of Andhra Pradesh that we will keep working for them. We will do everything possible for the development of the state," he added.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said that Congress has done the same with other parties also.
"What did the Congress do to Charan Singh ji? What did they do to Chandra Shekhar ji? What did they do to Deve Gowda ji? What did they do to IK Gujral ji? We all know this. Earlier they divided India and Pakistan. Then they divided Telangana and Andhra Pradesh," Prime Minister Modi said.
The No-Confidence Motion was moved by the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) over Andhra Pradesh Special Category status issue.
During his speech, the Prime Minister also criticised Congress President Rahul Gandhi for calling the surgical strike a "jumla strike."
"You called the surgical strike a Jumla Strike. You can abuse me as much as you want. Stop insulting the soldiers of India. I will not tolerate this insult to our armed forces," he said. (ANI)
