Utkal train derailment: PM Modi, Railway Minister should resign, says TMC

West Bengal [India], August 20 (ANI): The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), on Sunday dubbed the Utkal train derailment tragedy as 'an unfortunate incident' and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to resign from their respective posts.

Speaking to ANI, MP and MC Member Idris Ali said that if Prime Minister Modi has any "shame" left he should resign from his post and take "advice" from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on "how to run the Government."

"Prime Minister Modi should come to Mamata Banerjee and ask her for advice, and ask her as to how she works with her Government in the state, and that he would like Mamata to work the same way for the nation as well," Ali said.

Criticising the Central Government, Ali said, "The government is to be blamed for everything. Even the food given in the Railways is so bad that people die. This government is a failure."

Ali further said that if the country "has to prosper" then Mamata Banerjee should take command, adding, "This is not something I am saying, but is a belief of almost everybody."

Speaking on the same, TMC member Mukul Roy said, "It is a very unfortunate incident and I give my condolence to the family of the dead."

Mukul Roy also said that the Government should take strong measures to avoid such tragedies.

Over 100 passengers have been injured and 20 are said to be dead in this unfortunate accident.

The injured passengers have been admitted in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar hospitals. (ANI)
