CPM corners J'khand govt over PDS-Aadhar linking

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 23 (ANI): Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) leader Brinda Karat on Sunday accused the BJP-led government in the state for lying over the issue of linking of Aadhar with the Public Distribution System (PDS).

"The ruling government clearly lies because there is anguish among the citizens. On one hand, the government has scrapped order mandating Aadhar-ration card linking, while on the other RSS and BJP workers are attacking the family of the deceased, threatening them to take back their statements," Karat said, while addressing a press conference here.

Continuing the attack further, Karat also said the government should tell when the 11 lakh ration cards cancelled for not being linked to Aadhar will be restored.

The Aadhaar linking with the PDS scheme has come in for sharp criticism following the death of an 11-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Simdega district last month.

It was reported that the girl's family was denied ration from the PDS shop as they failed to furnish the Aadhaar number. (ANI)
