Class 4 student dies after being slapped by teacher

Ballia (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb 8 (ANI): A Class 4 student died today allegedly after being slapped by a teacher of a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia two days earlier.

The victim, Supriya 11-year- old girl was a student of St.Xavier's School in Rasda. She was slapped by her teacher on February 5 after which she fainted. She was immediately rushed to the Banaras Hindu University hospital in Varanasi where she died today after two days.

An FIR has been registered against teacher, Rajni Upadhyay under section 304 and 504 of Indian Penal Code, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said.

The family members of the girl, alleged that the teacher slapped her on February 5 due to which she fainted.

They also staged a protest outside the school today with the body of the girl, demanding action against the teacher.

Investigation in the regard is underway. (ANI)
