ABP India At 2047 Summit: Here's How Rural Women Lead India’s Digital Revolution

ABP India at 2047 Summit: The session titled 'Tech for All: The Digital Democracy' Focuses on how technology has changed the lives of people in every corner of the country

ABP India at 2047 Summit: What was once a manual, labor-intensive process of applying fertilizers in agricultural fields has now been replaced by drones, said Sunita Sharma during her session at the ABP Live India@2047 Summit on Tuesday.

She further explained that the use of drones has significantly increased the efficiency of fertilizer application. "Previously, it took five to six laborers to spray fertilizers over one acre of land. Today, a drone can accomplish the same task in just seven minutes," she noted.

Sharma also shared her initial apprehensions upon seeing a drone for the first time at the training center. She admitted that she doubted her ability to operate it, especially given its size, which intimidated her, having only seen smaller drones before. However, with proper training and the consistent support of her instructors, she eventually gained the confidence and skills needed to fly the drone successfully.

She underwent a 15-day training program, and upon completion, received her own drone free of cost through the Namo Drone Scheme after two months.

She was speaking during the session titled “Tech for All: The Digital Democracy,” where she was joined by Jaswinder Kaur, Sunita Devi, Devki Devi, Vaishaliben Gadiya, and Ramilaben Parmar. The session focuses on how technology has changed the life of people in the every corner of the country in its own way.

Sharing her experience with drone technology, Jaswinder Kaur said that initially, it was difficult to convince herself to join the training program. However, with the encouragement of her son and husband, she decided to take the leap. She remained committed, completed the training, and to date, has successfully sprayed fertilizers across 1,500 acres of land.

Sunita Devi spoke about how she harnesses solar energy to pump water, which she then sells to fellow villagers for agricultural use. This tech-led initiative has not only provided her with a source of income but also earned her respect within the community.

Similarly, Devki Devi shared her journey with solar energy, explaining how she managed to arrange funds for installing a solar-powered borewell. Her efforts paid off, enabling her to generate a steady income while also supporting the water needs of people in her village.

Ramilaben Parmar shared her experience of supporting local farmers by providing agricultural machinery for rent. By offering access to equipment that many small-scale farmers cannot afford to purchase outright, she has played a vital role in helping them significantly reduce their overall production costs. At the same time, this initiative has created a sustainable source of income for her through rental fees.

Vaishaliben Gadiya also shared her inspiring journey of how her training in the banking sector has transformed into a stable source of income. Leveraging her knowledge and skills, she now assists fellow villagers in accessing essential banking services more efficiently.
