Papon Shares How His Passion For Music Began

During the interview, the famous singer mentioned that music has been an inseparable part of his life since the day he was born. He grew up in a family where he was immersed in music. Both of his parents were deeply involved in music, with his father, Khagen Mahanta, earning the prestigious title of 'Bihu Samrat.'

Papon mentioned that he was so immersed into music that he never even considered a world beyond it. He recalled how his parents and other people would often gather in a 'mehfil' at home, further enriching his musical evironment. He expressed how he feels blessed to have had a childhood filled with music. The singer also mentioned that music came to him subconsciously.

Papon Reveals How He Developed A Love For Hindi Music Growing Up In Assam

When asked about his transition from listening to popular international artists like Bryan Adams and Pink Flyod to Hindi music, the singer opened up about his exposure to the genre. He explained that Hindi songs were not that popular in Assam at that time. His first encounters with Hindi music came through places like barber shops or radio shows. During his childhood, he often listened to iconic singers like Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, and classical maestros like Pt. Ravi Shankar, through the vinyl records that his father used to bring. These early influences played an important role in his taste in music.
