Aamir Khan talked about what he thinks about ‘marriage’ and how the relationship should be respected.

ABP Ideas Of India: Aamir Khan had an intriguing interaction with Sumit Awasthi in which he discussed "New Beginnings: Reorienting Entertainment." During the conversation, Aamir goes candid and talks about his divorce from Kiran Rao and his ex-wife Reena Dutta. 

Aamir briefly talked about what he thinks about ‘marriage’ and how the relationship should be respected. Aamir revealed that he is attached to Reena Dutta, his ex-wife and has respect and love for her. He said that their families are also connected and they have grown together. He said whenever I need anything, Reena is always there for me. 

Talking about his second wife, Kiran Rao, he said, we are not fighting and are happy in their relationship. 

To a striking question of why he is divorcing Kiran Rao when he is in a happy relationship, Aamir said, “I think the notion of marriage should be respected and when we are not married we should not be in the marriage just for the sake of it.”

He further added, “I think we would like to respect the institution of marriage, not be in the marriage and break the boundaries of what people consider is the boundaries of ‘marriage.’ We would not like to do that.” 

He also revealed that his son was the ‘least affected’ by his breakup with Kiran Rao. On the other hand, talking about his in-laws, Aamir said at first, Kiran’s parents were disappointed but gradually they understood our relationship. 

At the end of Aamir’s statement, Sumit Awasthi expressed his disbelief and asked ‘Ye Rishta Kya kehlata Hai’? Aamir smiled and said, “Humanity is the relationship between us, I have huge respect for her and she also has respect and love in her heart for me and it is a good thing.”

Last year in July, Aamir and Kiran published a joint statement announcing their divorce. Fans and the entertainment industry were stunned when the pair dissolved their 15-year marriage.
