FIFA 23: Release Date, Gameplay, Ratings, Price, System Requirements, More
FIFA 23 will be the last official “FIFA” game from EA Sports.
FIFA 23, the final video game offering from the three-decade-long partnership between EA Sports and FIFA, is set to release this week. This will be the final football simulator from EA Sports with “FIFA” in the title, as the upcoming games from the coming year are set to be released under the banner of EA Sports FC. Although that wouldn’t lead to any changes to the overall gameplay experience or even major licensing issues, there won’t be a World Cup mode/DLC in FIFA games in the future, unless of course, EA manages to strike up a deal with FIFA yet again.
From its release date and platforms to its price and system requirements, here’s everything you need to know about FIFA 23.
FIFA 23: Release date, platforms
FIFA 23 is set to release on September 30. The game will be available on PC, PS5, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
FIFA 23: Early access
Those who have ordered FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition have already gotten access to the game starting September 27.
FIFA 23: Editions
FIFA 23 will only come in two editions this time around — standard and ultimate.
The FIFA 23 standard edition will offer the full game, along with perks such as Team of the Week 1 player item, cover star Kylian Mbappé loan item for five FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) matches, FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick for three FUT matches (which will let you choose between Alphonso Davies, Heung Min Son, and Vini Jr.), and a special Career Mode called Homegrown Talent.
FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition, on the other hand, will offer access to all the perks from the standard edition, but also add 3-day early access, Dual Entitlement, Ones To Watch player item, and 4,600 FIFA Points.
FIFA 23: Price in India
On Steam, FIFA 23 price is set at Rs 3,499 for the standard edition and Rs 4,799 for the Ultimate Edition.
On the PS Store, FIFA 23 price is set at Rs 3,999 for the PS4 standard edition, whereas the PS5 standard edition is priced at Rs 4,499. FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition is priced at Rs 6,499, which will grant you access to both PS4 and PS5 editions.
For Xbox users, FIFA 23 is priced at Rs 3,499 for the Xbox One standard edition, and Rs 4,499 for the Xbox Series X/S standard edition. The FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition, priced at Rs 6,499, will offer access to both Xbox One and Xbox Series X editions.
FIFA 23: Gameplay
While FIFA games might not appear too different in terms of gameplay year-on-year, FIFA 23 boasts of HyperMotion2, a motion capture system that brings life-like realism to matches via over 6,000 in-game animations — which can only be experienced on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S), Stadia, and PC.
With FIFA 23, the franchise welcomes women’s club football for the first time ever, along with a dedicated 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup mode. Needless to say, 2022 FIFA World Cup will also be a part of FIFA 23.
As a fun addition, Ted Lasso, the multiple Emmy-winnning Apple TV+ comedy, will be featured on FIFA 23 as well. You will be able to select Ted Lasso himself as a playable manager in Career Mode. Lasso’s club, AFC Richmond will be playable across Career Mode, Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, Isaac McAdoo, and Coach Beard will also be a part of the game.
FIFA 23 will also offer crossplay support for a handful of modes, including FUT Division Rivals (excluding co-op), FUT Champions, FUT Ultimate Online Draft, FUT Online Friendlies (excluding Co-Op), FUT Play a Friend, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons (excluding Co-Op Seasons). The Pro Clubs mode has notably been excluded from crossplay.
However, crossplay will only be supported on same-gen consoles. This means that PS4 players can only play against Xbox One users, and PS5 users will be able to play against Xbox Series X/S players.
FIFA 23: Ratings
For FIFA 23 aficionados, in-game player ratings are often a topic of debate. For the latest game, 91 appears to be the official highest overall player rating, which is shared by five footballers in total — Karim Benzema (Rank 1), Robert Lewandowski (Rank 2), Kylian Mbappé (Rank 3), Kevin De Bruyne (Rank 4), and Lionel Messi (Rank 5). The 90-rated players include Mohamed Salah (Rank 6), Virgil van Dijk (Rank 7), Cristiano Ronaldo (Rank 8), Thibaut Courtois (Rank 9), and Manuel Neuer (Rank 10).
