Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen is on cloud nine as her web series ‘Aarya’ has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Drama Series’ at the International Emmy Awards 2021. The former Miss Universe, who played the titular role in the action thriller, penned a long note to express her happiness. 

Sushmita said that she was busy dubbing for the second season of ‘Aarya’ when she received the news. She wrote, “OMGGGGGG!! AARYA is nominated for Best Drama Series at the #InternationalEmmyAwards2021 @iemmys. Was busy dubbing for AARYA2…just got the news!!!! Yipppeeeeeee!!! Sen said that she is elated to see Indians securing nominations at the prestigious award ceremony. She added, “To see INDIA on this list, fills my heart!!! Thank you wonderful people….your love & appreciation for #Aarya is the very soul of this celebration!!! This Team truly deserves it.” 

 The Bengali beauty congratulated Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vir Das, who have also been nominated. Sen wrote, “Congratulations to @nawazuddin._siddiqui and @virdas for their respective nominations & for adding to India’s pride!!

Sushmita made her digital debut with ‘Aarya’, which premiered on Disney+Hotstar in June 2020. The series managed to earn critical acclaim upon its release on the leading OTT platform.  Sen won the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress for her power-packed performance.

After the success of the first season, Hotstar renewed the series for a second season. The ardent fans are eagerly waiting for 'Aarya 2', which is expected to release in the upcoming months.
