'Marco' Actor Unni Mukundan Steps Down As AMMA Treasurer Due To Mental Health Struggles: 'With Heavy Heart, I Submit My Resignation'
Unni Mukundan has announced his resignation as the treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
New Delhi: Actor Unni Mukundan, who is now getting accolades for his part in the movie ‘Marco’, has resigned from his position as the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) Treasurer. The actor said that he had to resign from the position because his mental health had suffered due to increasing work commitments, especially after ‘Marco’.

In an emotional post on his Instagram page, Unni Mukundan wrote, "I hope this message finds you well. After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as the Treasurer (AMMA)."
The actor said that while he had liked his time in the role, the demands of juggling his acting career and AMMA obligations had been too much to handle. "I have truly enjoyed my time in this position, and it has been both an exciting and rewarding experience. However, in recent months, the increasing demands of my work, particularly with Marco and other production commitments, have significantly impacted my mental health," he stated.
Unni Mukundan emphasised the need to concentrate on his own health as well as the health of his family. "Balancing these responsibilities, along with the pressures of my professional life, has become overwhelming. I now realize the importance of stepping back to focus on my own well-being and that of my family’s," he said.
In his retirement announcement, Unni told his fans that he would stay on until a replacement was chosen, guaranteeing a seamless transition. He said, "It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation. I will, however, continue to serve until a new member is appointed, ensuring a smooth transition.”
